Robert “Gary” Smith

Robert “Gary” Smith 74 of Montevallo passed away September 25, 2017. Robert was born on August 10, 1943 to the late Robert Smith and Genave Harper Smith. He was the owner of Montevallo Auto Supply for many years. He married the love of his life Thelma Smith on October 29, 1968. Together they raised 3 children, Bridget Broadhead (Mark), Shawn Smith and Kelsey Smith. He had 4 grandchildren, Hunter & Brody Broadhead, Ashley & Trinty Smith and a soon-to-be great granddaughter AnnaLee Smith.  He also had a sister, Judy Cox & 2 brothers, Jody Harper & Kaytha Harper. He also leaves behind several nieces & nephews along with other family and friends. Robert loved his family and watching Alabama Football. He served in the U.S. Army for 3 ½ years.  He is predeceased by his parents and his sister Frankie Harper.

Robert’s family will accept friends and family at Charter Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 from 10 – 11 a.m. for visitation and a service at 11 a.m. with a burial afterwards at Alabama National in Montevallo at 12:30 p.m.
