Michael Norman Eshenbaugh

Michael Norman Eshenbaugh, 72, of Alabaster, Alabama died August 10, 2026.
He was born in Freeport, PA to Betty Louise Hunsbarger and Dellis Norman Eshenbaugh.
As a young boy, the family moved to Youngstown, Ohio, where he graduated from Woodrow Willson High School in 1972. After high school he worked at Youngstown Sheet and Tube for five years before enlisting in the Army where he met his future wife, Cheryl Lee Molloy in 1977 at the Military Police School at Fort McClellan.
He dedicated over 27 years of service to the Army both active duty and active reserves. During his time in the U.S. Army Reserves, he returned to the steel industry for another 16 years. Always a family man, and advocate for education, in 1993, he ran for and was elected to the school board in the North Allegheny School District in Pennsylvania creating a lasting impact in the school district. He was the first candidate to win on the newly created Patriot Party ticket in Pennsylvania.
In 1995, the family moved to Alabaster, Alabama when he accepted a job with U.S. Steel but soon afterwards and late in life, he made a career change becoming a Police Office for the Montgomery Police Department, later retiring from that police department. He was an avid hunter and fisherman; he had the best sense of humor and loved to laugh. If you were lucky enough, you may have even heard his beautiful voice singing old songs. He loved life and Jesus. He was most proud of his service to his country as a soldier, Military Police Instructor, and police officer.
He is survived by his wife, Lee, of 49 years; two daughters, Lauren Hope Eshenbaugh Lenoir (Ross) of Wilsonville, AL and Elizabeth Breen Eshenbaugh Brea of Fredericksburg, VA, and 5 grandchildren; three brothers and one sister.
Funeral Arrangements are Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 80 St. Thomas Way, Montevallo, AL 35115. Visitation times 10:00-10:30 a.m.; Funeral Mass beginning at 10:30 a.m. Service and Burial with Honors starting at 12:30 p.m. in Alabama National Cemetery, 3133 Highway 119, Montevallo, AL 35115.
So sorry to see this. We were in Patrol together at Montgomery PD. He had such a dry sense of humor and was so funny. He cared so much for his fellow Officers, we were all family. Rest in peace brother. 💙🖤
I salute you sir! Mission accomplished!
At ease!
Mike was always a true brother of the faith and encouraged my husband, Jack, and I often in our years battling the evil of Jack’s PSP. My heart is sad to hear this news, yet knowing after the Lord receives him, he will have many brothers and sisters waiting to welcome him gives comfort. Onward to all who heed the call, the true call, of Jesus Christ. See you soon, Mike.
