Robert “Allen” Dunaway
Robert “Allen” Dunaway, age 75, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 4, 2026. He was born on February 4, 1951, to his parents, John Dunaway Jr. and Mary Frances Lovelady Dunaway; both have preceded him in death.
Allen is survived by his sisters, Donna Dunaway (Donna Hester) and Carol Dunaway; his brother, Tony Dunaway; his nephew, Anthony Dunaway; his niece, Belinda Bradley (Carol Vance); and 3 grandnieces and 2 grandnephews.
Services for Allen will be held on Monday, August 10, 2026, at Charter Funeral Home Chapel in Calera, AL. His visitation will be held from 12noon until 1:00 p.m. with his service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Allen will be laid to rest in Helena City Cemetery. Pastor Matt Monk will be officiating.
Darren Childers, Jeff Carroll, Joey Henderson, Jamie Lovelady, Jared Woods and Anthony Dunaway will be serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Jay Stuman, Kim Lovelady and Tim Lovelady.
In lieu of flowers, please contribute to your favorite charity in memory of Allen Dunaway.
There will never be another. We cousins called him Bubba most of the time. He was a favorite among us. Allen was fun to be around. His sense of humor was keen and he loved to joke around. The second generation of cousins loved Allen, too. Brooke and Brandon loved when Allen visited. We lived a few houses apart, so visits were frequent. He was loved and will be terribly missed. Godspeed, Allen and angels fly thee to thy rest.
