Donald Dwight Gaut
Donald Dwight Gaut, age 86, of Calera, Alabama was a faithful Christian and a hardworking man. Many friends, neighbors and family enjoyed his bountiful garden items and blueberries for years. He devoted himself to being a good Christian and a good neighbor to all who knew him. His two passions in life were studying God’s word and growing a good garden. Don passed away peacefully at home on August 13, 2026, just two weeks shy of being 87 years old.
Preceded in death by his parents, James Orlando Gaut and Sarah Gladys Gaut; sisters, Yvonne Difronzo, Norma Jean Fowler, and Adrenia Hoggle; brother, James E Gaut; daughter, Judy Howell; grandson, Steven Blackwell.
Don is survived by his son, Jerry Gaut (Mary); daughter, Kathy Kimmons (Charles); son-in-law, Henry Howell; sisters, Linda Montgomery, Sharron Gaut, and Doris Doss; brothers, Terry Dodd, Kenny Gaut; 8 grandchildren; 12 great- grandchildren, and with two more great grandchildren on the way. Don is also survived by his faithful friend Linda New.
Services for Don will be held in the chapel of Charter Funeral Home in Calera on Tuesday, August 18, 2026. His visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by his service at 11:00 a.m. with Brother Keith Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Salem Cemetery in Calera. Charter handling arrangements for the Gaut family.
Thank for your example of both how to live and how to be strong and brave when facing death. We will miss you here but are thankful you can now rest. Rest in peace until we meet again, big brother.
