Aaron Glen Johnson

Aaron Glenn Johnson, 73, of Calera, AL passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. The son of the late Charles V. Johnson and Dorothy Collum Johnson, he was born on February 4, 1953.
As a graduate of Thompson High School (class of ’71), Aaron was a band member traveling to football games and playing his baritone in concert season, as well. He retired as a mechanic from Alabama Power Company and later worked for A. G. Legg. He thoroughly enjoyed his retirement getting to work on all types of vehicles from lawnmowers to cars, trucks and trailers. He enjoyed helping people with whatever need they had and often used his mechanic skills to help those who couldn’t afford mechanical repairs otherwise. Other hobbies included collecting pinball machines and juke boxes – and he loved going to concerts, traveling to see many stars perform.
Aaron raised 2 wonderful daughters and was Peepaw to his adored granddaughter and grandson. Aaron is survived by his wife of 25 years, Kelley Honeycutt Johnson, daughters Katie Honeycut and Jennifer Honeycut George(Andrew George), and grandchildren Faith Honeycutt and Jackson George. He is also survived by his brother Roland Johnson and sisters, Sharon Johnson Orr and Donna Johnson Eyles.
A memorial service will be held for Aaron at 11:00 am at the Church of the Highlands, Alabaster campus on Saturday, August 15, 2026. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, please contribute to a local charity.
