Lynford “Lyn” Thomas Emfinger

Lynford “Lyn” Thomas Emfinger, age 66, of Jemison, Alabama, passed from this walk of life and entered the Grand Lodge above on Sunday, June 2, 2024, at his home. Lyn was passionate about being a Road Runner with the Zamora Temple, providing transportation to Shriners Hospitals for Children. He was known for his loyalty and servitude in the Fraternal Order of Free and Accepted Masons for nearly 30 years. Lyn served as secretary, and was a past Worshipful Master, for Central Lodge # 70 in Montevallo, AL. He also served as Grand Sr. Steward in 2000/2001 and served as District Lecturer for 10 years. He was proud to rise to the rank of 33rd degree Scottish Rite. Lyn’s servant heart will be missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Milton Leeford Emfinger and Tomlyn McGaughy Emfinger Parrish; brother John Milton Emfinger; step-brother Doyle Edward Mathews; sister-in-law Janie Emfinger. Lyn’s surviving relatives include his loving wife of 45 years, Mary Jane Wyatt Emfinger; son, John Thomas “Tom” Emfinger; daughter, Christy Emfinger Walton (Chris); grandchildren, Khloe and Cooper Walton; brother, Jimmie Lee Emfinger; step-brother Walter Calvin Mathews; numerous nieces and nephews.

Services for Lyn will be held in the chapel of Charter Funeral Home in Calera, Alabama on Friday, June 7, 2024. His service will start at 11:00 a.m., with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. Pastor Mike Ratliff will be officiating. A burial will follow in the Montevallo City Cemetery with Masonic Rites. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Zamora Shrine Temple Hospital Transportation Fund. Charter Funeral Home in Calera, Alabama is handling arrangements for his family.

    He was a great friend for many years . We grew up together in Aldrich. Went to school together. Talked over the phone over the years. Talked sports off an on. I will miss you my friend. RIP.
