James Carl Barrett

November 6, 1947 – August 9, 2024

James Carl Barrett, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2024, just weeks after the loss of his beloved wife, Sandra. He leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, protection, and wisdom that will forever be treasured by his family and friends.

Born on November 6, 1947, to Marion Jane Bowden and Carl Everett Barrett, James grew into a man of strength, compassion, and unwavering commitment to his family. He was the loving husband of Sandra Barrett for 58 years and the devoted father of Denise Leddy, Hollie Barrett, Chad Barrett, and Brian Barrett. His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the center of his world, where he remained a constant source of support and guidance throughout his life.

James was a skilled professional who dedicated his career to the art of meat cutting and market management. He retired from Publix after years of service, where his expertise and leadership were highly valued. Beyond his professional life, James was a talented man with a wide array of hobbies and interests. Throughout the years, he enjoyed tinkering with tools and technology, tackling various building and construction projects, crafting beautiful jewelry, and tending to his garden. His diverse skills and interests were a testament to his creativity and lifelong love of learning.

James’s greatest gifts were his caring nature and his ability to wear many hats for his family. He was not just a father, but a protector, provider, teacher, mentor, advisor, and friend. His unwavering support and gentle guidance were a constant source of comfort and strength for his children, even in adulthood.

He will be deeply missed by his children, grandchildren, and all who knew him. We were all blessed to have had him in our lives. James’s memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched with his kindness, wisdom, and unconditional love.

While we mourn the loss of both James and Sandra in such a short time, we find comfort in knowing they are now reunited in heaven, just as they wished. Their love story continues in eternity, and their legacy lives on through the family they nurtured and the lives they touched.

    Dad,
Thank you for all that you taught me, provided for me and the love you showed me during my 49 years with you. I couldn’t imagine a father stronger than you or with more common sense. You accomplished amazing feats in your life by always figuring it out on your own. Everyone enjoyed conversation with you so they too could learn from your wealth of knowledge.
Your unwavering love, devotion and protection of Mom is something we don’t see often in life anymore. It truly is special in remembrance.
May you enjoy eternity with Mom and our Lord and savior!
You are forever missed and forever loved!
    Rest in peace!
