David Earl Short

 David  Earl Short, age 69, of Alabaster, AL, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, December 28, 2016.  Dave proudly served in active duty in the US Army and then in the Army Reserve from February 1966 till January 1994  retiring with the rank of Sergeant Major.  He retired in 2007 from Federal Civil Service with the Department of Defense at grade G512. He was a Member of  Community Baptist Church and served as a custodian there until his death. Most of all Dave was a loving husband, father and Paw Paw. He was predeceased by his parents, Simon and Lois Short.  His survivors include his wife of 32 years, Debra Short; children, Kenneth Short (Charlene), Vicki Stewart (Jeff), Becky Short, Daniel Short (Laura) and Brendalyn Jones (Brandon); 9 grandchildren and 2 step-grandchildren.  The family will receive friends,  4-6 pm, Friday, December 30, 2016 with a A Celebration of Dave’s life to follow at 6 pm at Community Baptist Church in Maylene, AL. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations are made to Community Baptist Church or The American Cancer Society in Dave’s name.
