Doris Moore Horne, age 91, of Bessemer, AL, passed away Sunday, August 21, 2016. She was the first born child to Bertha Sollberger Moore and Odrie Clarence Moore on June 22, 1925 in Bessemer, AL. She attended public schools and graduated from McAdory High School. She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, William C. Horne, her parents and brother, O. C. Moore, Jr. She is survived by her son, William C. Horne, Jr. (Sheila); grandson, Austin Horne; granddaughter, Erin Colbert (Derrick); great grandson, Bennett Colbert; sister, Jean Smitherman (R.L.); brother, Dal Moore (Nancy) and sister-in-law, Ruby Moore. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was active in her church and a devoted follower of Christ. She loved serving others. A private family graveside will be held at K. Springs Cemetery. A special thank-you to the caregivers at The Oaks on Parkwood and Gentiva Hospice.
