Betty Elaine Thibault

Betty Elaine Thibault, affectionately known as “Elaine,” 71, of Alabaster, Alabama, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2025. Born on September 18, 1954, in Clanton, Alabama, Elaine lived a life grounded in love, perseverance, and a generous spirit that deeply touched all who knew her.

Elaine’s greatest pride and joy came from her family.  She cherished her children and grandchildren above all else, finding her happiest moments in their laughter, milestones, and the lasting warmth of family gatherings.  Her love for them was infinite and unwavering.

Determined and ambitious, Elaine pursued her dream of becoming a nurse later in life.  Through dedication and resilience, she earned her Registered Nursing degree and went on to serve at Jackson Hospital in Montgomery for many years.  Her compassion and steady hand brought comfort to countless patients and families, embodying the selflessness she carried into every part of her life.

Elaine’s personality was one of fierce loyalty balanced by spirited independence.  She stood firmly by those she loved, yet carried a sharp wit and an attitude that ensured she was never overlooked.  Her lively nature was matched by her passions—she was a devoted Crimson Tide fan, cheering on her team with enthusiasm, and she found joy in traveling and exploring the world around her.

Elaine is survived by her daughter, Alaina Maronge (nee Ballard) of Cumming, Georgia; her son, Alan Ballard (Sayoko) of Tokyo, Japan; stepchildren, Laura Shepherd (Kyle) and Terra Thibault Ulcar; grandchildren, Riley Maronge, Rio Ballard, Rei Ballard, Sasha Ballard, Theseus Porter, Milo Porter, Jaeden Baker, Liam Baker, and Kellen Baker; and siblings, Cathy Grill (Randy) and Kenneth Marler (Geri).  She is preceded in death by her parents, Ida Marler (nee Day) and Ivan Marler; brother, Wayne Marler, and her sister, Paula Maudlin.

A Celebration of life for Elaine will be held at Charter Funeral Home in Calera, Alabama, on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at 2:00 p.m.  Pastor George Maronge Jr. will be officiating. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to The Alzheimer’s Association (https://www.alz.org/get-involved-now/donate). Her legacy of love, strength, and devotion will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know her.
