Barbara Campbell Carman

Barbara Campbell Carman, age 92, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on October 18, 2025, in Pelham, Alabama. She was born on September 29, 1933, in New Albany, Mississippi.

Barbara led a full and meaningful life, marked by dedication to both her family and her work. In her early years, she served as a civil service court reporter and later worked with American Airlines until her retirement. Her sharp mind, grace, and professionalism were hallmarks of her career and personal life.

She was the beloved wife of Joseph Wayne Carman, her devoted husband of 72 years. Together they raised three children: Joseph Wayne Carman Jr. (Pat), Laurie Carman Moore (James), and Dale Barry Carman. Barbara was a proud and loving grandmother to 7 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter, each of whom brought her great joy and pride.

A service to honor Barbara’s life will be held at Helena Methodist Church (2035 County Road 58, Helena, Alabama) on Friday, October 24. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements are being handled by Charter Funeral Home and Crematory.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Helena Methodist Church, in memory of Barbara’s long-standing faith and connection to the community.

Barbara’s legacy of love, strength, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
