Howard Michael Shaw “Mike”

Howard Michael Shaw “Mike” was born in Greenwood SC, to Howard and Edith Shaw (Smith (. He was the second son of three boys. Mike grew up in Greenwood Mill Village, spending days full of baseball, railroad tracks and 10 cent movies. He spent his summers with his grandmother, known to most as Mama Shaw. Many memories Mike shared showed the love and precious memoirs spent with his grandmother.
Mike graduated from Greenwood High School and attended Piedmont Tech College for Classes in Engineering. He pursued a career as a Surveyor Engineer.
Mike had three daughters that he adored: Alyson, Shelly, and Heather.
Mike resided in Greenwood, SC most of his life for the last 15 years. Still, he remained an avid Carolina Gamecock fan no matter how much Roll Tide he was around. Here in Alabama, he made friends through morning trips to Jacks for coffee, weed eating the Big Part of the community’s yard, and attending Pondville Baptist Church; where he was a faithful member. He was loved, he was love, he was a good man in a world known for bad. The loss of Mike will be gratefully felt for as far as the future may be.
Mike was preceded in death by both parents, his older brother, Dennis Shaw; and his beloved oldest daughter, Alyson Shaw Johnson.
He is survived by his daughters Shelly Shaw McBride (Johnny) of Hodges, SC and Heather Shaw Rich (Jason) of Calera, AL. Mike had nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren with another to arrive very soon, a host if nieces and nephews, and one special niece, Tracy Shaw Findley, who was the first little girl who stole his heart.
Mike loved his entire family dearly, with his entire heart. He will be greatly missed. A Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday, August 23, 2026 at Pondville Baptist Church beginning at 4 p.m. everyone is welcome.
