Susan Kellam of Alabaster, Alabama passed away peacefully on September 20, 2024, at the age of 73 after a brief illness with her family by her side. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Philip; sons, Tom (Debi) and Steven; sisters, Cathy (Jim), Toni (Dennis), and Janet (John); grandchildren, Jessica and Jeremy; nieces, Terri, Christi, Nicole, and Laura; and nephew, Matt.
Susan grew up on Long Island and raised a family in upstate New York before moving to Alabama in 1997.
She worked as a veterinary receptionist for 12 years at the Greene Veterinary Clinic and the last 25 years at the Shelby Animal Clinic. She really enjoyed all of the clients and their pets that she helped throughout her career.
Susan spent her free time reading, knitting, and making crafts for her family and friends. She also enjoyed watching her beloved San Francisco 49’ers and most of all adopting and caring for kittens and giving them very well-loved lives.
Contributions in her memory can be made to the ASPCA.
At her request there will be no funeral or calling hours. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
Love you, Susan. Rest in peace till we all meet again 💞
Ms. Susan was a kind hearted and caring individual that gave comfort to many individuals and their pets. For over 24 years she did an excellent job, going beyond what was asked of her. She was a part of the success of Shelby Animal Clinic and was dearly loved by the staff and clients, and warm fuzzy friends.
Ms. Susan loved baking and would spoil us with delicious cakes and candy. She also made beautiful handmade Christmas presents that will be cherished forever. Her love made everyone feel special.
I cannot express fully in words my gratitude for all Ms. Susan has done for me, my family, and Shelby Animal Clinic. She will always be in my thoughts and heart.
