Joe Earl Dedman

Joe Earl Dedman, age 78, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on June 14, 2026.

Joe was born on August 14, 1947. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and carried that same spirit of service throughout his life. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose love for his family and faith guided everything he did.

Joe was a faithful member of First Assembly of God in Clanton, Alabama. He spent many years ministering to others through the Chilton County Jail Ministry, sharing his faith, encouragement, and compassion with those in need. He also dedicated many years to serving and mentoring children through the Royal Rangers ministry at First Assembly, helping guide young people in their faith and character. His commitment to serving the Lord and helping others left a lasting impact on countless lives.

Joe was preceded in death by his mother, Jeanette Smitherman; his father, John Dedman; his sister, Sheila Smitherman; and his beloved grandson, Bryan Wiggins.

He is survived by his loving wife of many years, Carol Dedman; his children, Joseph Dedman (Nelly Dedman), Mark Dedman, Karen Beasley, Jennifer Hobbs, and John Dedman; his sisters, Nita Summerlin (David Summerlin), Gina LeCroy (Randy LeCroy), and Lisa Davis (Doyle Davis); 10 grandchildren, one great-grandchild; his lifelong friend, XL Quinton Prickett; along with numerous extended family members and dear friends who will cherish his memory. 

Joe will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his love for his family, his servant’s heart, and the kindness he showed to everyone he met. Though his family grieves his loss, they find comfort in knowing that he is now healed, at peace, and rejoicing in the presence of his Lord and Savior.

Joe will be deeply loved, greatly missed, and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
