Cletius Delaine Knight “Dell”

Cletius Delaine Knight was called home to the Lord on June 14, 2026. Cletius went by C.D. or Dell Knight. Cletius was the son of Doyle and Myrl Collums Knight. He was the last of their five children, he was predeceased by his two brothers and their wives, Raymond (Loree) Knight, Homer Gene (Virginia) Knight. Cletius had two sisters. He was predeceased by Martha (Ruble) Stroup. He is survived by sister only, Faye (Henry O) Campbell.
Cletius graduated from Bruce High School in the year of 1956-1957. He attended college on a football scholarship at S.E. College in Scooba, Mississippi. Cletius enlisted into the Navy in 1958 and retired as Lieutenant Commander at Fleet Intelligence Training Center, Atlantic Naval Station in Norfolk, Virginia.
He is survived by his loving wife of sixty seven years, Betty Estel (Jackson) Knight. Together they raised their three children. Anthony Raymond (Corrine) Knight, Terry Elizabeth Knight, and Timothy (Cora) Knight. He was a devoted father and shared his love for the Lord. and taught them the value of hard work and to help those in need. He touched many people by his selfless acts of kindness and generosity. Cletius would volunteer countless hours to help those in need.
He is survived by his four grandchildren and one great-grand child. Sandra Reese, Micheal Knight, Isabella Knight, Nicholas Knight, and great-granddaughter Jaden Marie Jackson. He is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Cletius was very athletic and enjoyed playing football, he was a softball fast-pitch pitcher for his Navy team, he was an avid golfer and an avid gardener.
Funeral services will be held at the Alabama National Cemetery at 12:30, on Tuesday, June 23, 2026. Anyone that would like to attend needs to arrive by 12:15. The address is 3133 Highway 119, Montevallo, AL 35115. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to either Wounded Warrior or St. Judes Hospital.
I met Dell back in 1973. We reconnected after he retired from the Navy. We played golf together. Dell gave me fruits and veggies from his garden. Whenever I did work at the Church I could always call on Dell for help. He never failed. Dell is now in his new body and he is young and healthy with our Lord Jesus Christ. Dell and I discussed this and I feel this is where he is.
