Jonathan “Cole” Dixon

Jonathan “Cole” Dixon, affectionately known as Cole & CoCo, left for heaven on Monday, June 1, 2026.

Cole entered our lives on January 20, 2008, a handsome red headed baby boy with the sweetest dimples. A true blessing to his parents Shannon & Johnny. As a child, Cole was spunky, full of energy and full of unconditional love. A free spirit that knew no stranger and loved everyone he met. Cole’s days were spent with his siblings Eric, Reagan & Ava whom he loved endlessly. As time passed Cole matured from a silly fun-loving child, into a young man who would bring light to the darkest of days. A soul much wiser than his time, found the beauty in life that others still search for. A driven fearless warrior who would prove to be a force to be reckoned with. Born to be a healer, with the love of his mother and Matt Shepard and the support of his CHS family, Cole began to focus on his future as a doctor. Cole’s passion for success, in all things, was only matched by his goal-driven energy to give hope and find cures to the lost and forgotten. Cole truly believed in a world where no one was out of reach to heal. Throughout his high-school years, Cole exceeded all expectations and limits. Through an Ewings Sarcoma diagnosis, 2 years of treatments and surgeries, Cole refused to allow his illness to define him. Cole graduated on May 19th with an honors diploma, top 25 in his class, a 4.2 GPA, 17 honor cords, a medallion and stole. He received the presidential scholarship and acceptance to UAB for precancer biology.  Cole’s legacy will forever live on through his resilience, his faith over fear mentally, his pure love for others and his ability to believe that Grace is the most beautiful gift one can receive and give. What a beautiful soul Cole has and a beautiful gift from God he was to everyone who had the honor to know him.

Cole was blessed beyond words to have the love and support from so many. His mom Shannon, and Matt who helped Cole grow into the exceptional young man we knew, brother, Eric; sisters, Reagan and Ava; his GG, Ginny Ashcraft; his bonus grandparents, Jim & Elaine Shepard; his father Johnny; stepmother, Amy; bonus siblings, Regan, Nathan, Erin & Kyleigh. His many uncles, aunts, cousins, CHS family, his Clinic 8 and Quarter Back 8 families and so many more that have become family along our journey. Cole wanted nothing more than to fly and fly my beautiful boy did.

A celebration of life will be held at Charter Funeral Home on Thursday June 11, 2026. Visitation will be from 12pm – 2pm followed by a service, officiated by Pastor Ben Nelson at 2 pm. After the service, we ask everyone to join us at the Waterford Club house for a celebration party in honor of Cole from 4pm to 7pm.
