Michael Wayne Freeman

Michael Wayne Freeman- Born Sept. 27, 1962, in Orange County, California. He passed away April 13, 2026. He is survived by his wife, Glenda Joy Abbott Freeman, his mother, Mary Jo Freeman, and brother Mark Anthony Freeman. He is preceded in death by his sons, Dustin Shane Freeman and Dallas Chase Estes Freeman and his father, Aaron Leon Freeman, his grandparents, Erwin and Lucille Armstrong and Erwin and Lucille Freeman.

Mike was born while his dad served in the Navy, they moved to Wilsonville when he was a young child and he attended Wilsonville Elementary School and graduated from Shelby County High School in 1980. He married Glenda Abbott in 1982 and joined the Navy from 1982-1987 stationed aboard the USS Shreveport. After serving our country, Mike had several jobs he loved doing. He was proud to be a deputy for Shelby County Sheriff’s Office from 1990-2004. Later he and his son Dustin worked for various HVAC companies. His last job was at Sammy’s Grocery in Wilsonville where he loved getting to know people in the community. Mike loved his family. He loved his wife and sons. He was dedicated to providing for them.

He loved life especially fishing, hunting, and the ocean.

He loved life and even though the last years of his life was met with life changing hardships and challenges due to health problems, he kept a positive attitude and made friends with both the other patients and staff.

The Family would like to thank all the medical staff at Fresenius Kidney Care of Sylacauga and Shelby Baptist Hospital for the love and care that he received from them.

    I came to love Michael as we talked during my many visits to his room at Shelby. I already miss him.

    Took care of Mr freeman for months ! He was so kind and such a comedian he loved his snacks ! And “his girls” that’s what he referred to us hospital staff he became family ! And definitely will be missed 🥺♥️

    Mr. Freeman was a personality to know! Always so kind and willing to work even on days that were rough. It’s was blessing to be apart of his Baptist health family, and to participate in his care. He will be missed!
