Joe is survived by his loving wife, Karen Molina, who never left his side in his battle against cancer; step-sons, Michael Mason (Jennifer), Matthew Mason (Lara), and Josh Jenkins; step-grandchildren, Karlee Jenkins and Hunter Tidmore; sisters, Judy O’Rourke (Michael) and Joan Shackelford; nephews, Michael Jincks (Becky), Tony Shackelford, and Bobby Bovaconti (Charlene); and niece, Gina Morris (Tim).

Joe started his career at McDonnell Douglas in St. Louis. He then moved to California to further pursue his career at Flight Safety International, training pilots on Flight Simulators.

After moving to Birmingham, he worked at Hesco Automotive for 20+ years, where he met many new people with the same love of cars. Joe loved cars so much, he spent his last 6 years working for Impatient Creations, Inc, and he willingly gave tours to anyone who wanted to tour the company.

Joe also loved spending time at the beach whenever possible. Seeing the “Blue Angels” buzz the beach was always a thrill. Car shows were another place where Joe liked to go to see the cars and visit with friends who were also car enthusiasts.

Joe is a United States Marine Corps. Veteran. He served in Vietnam from 1963-1967 and held a grand pride in his service to his country.

Joe leaves behind many relatives and countless friends, as he knew no stranger.

I never knew a time where Joe didn’t have a smile or a witty joke. His laughter and humor were infectious. I am so fortunate that he was my father in law. He will be deeply missed. Thank you Joe for everything. I love you
