Barbara Joan Sexton Lantrip “Bobbie”

Barbara Joan Sexton Lantrip, “Bobbie” a lifelong resident of Birmingham, AL went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, February 9, 2025. 

Bobbie was born April 13, 1938, to William and Dorothy Sexton. She married Bill Lantrip on May 29, 1962. Her children and family were always her greatest love and highest priority. 

In her early years, she worked at State Farm Insurance. She later worked with her husband, Bill, in his insurance agency and then SmartMed medical records company, a job she loved.

Bobbie’s faith in Christ sustained her throughout her life. She was a member of Pike Avenue Church of God and a founding member of Metropolitan Church of God. She loved serving in the church. She taught Sunday School to children, was in the choir, was the Sunday School Secretary, helped cook Wednesday night meals, was a leader in the widow’s/widower’s ministry, and volunteered 2 days a week in the church office until her illness in 2018. 

Her pride and joy were her grandchildren, Will and Anna Claire Stone. 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Bill Lantrip; parents, William and Dorothy Sexton; brother, Cecil Sexton; sister, Evelyn Mosley; and son, Bob Lantrip. She is survived by her daughter, Tammy Lantrip Stone (Tim) and her grandchildren, Will and Anna Claire Stone; brother-in-law who became a brother, Mike Lantrip and special niece and cousins, Becky Mosley Osborne (Speedy), Greg Hodge (Holly) and Lisa Hodge Potter (Jon) and Kellie Morrison, who she considered herself to be her Birmingham mom.

Visitation is Thursday, February 13, 2025, at 12 noon at Metropolitan Church of God in Hoover, immediately followed by celebration of life service at 1:00. She will be laid to rest in Southern Heritage Cemetery. Services entrusted to Charter Funeral Home.

    Words cannot express my love for Bobbie and the family. She and Bill were there for us in so many ways when we lost my Dad. And she was my B’ham Mom when I attended college. What a shining example of Gods love ❤️ She will be greatly missed.

    I will never forget our fun times at your house growing up. Your mom was always so sweet. What a blessing she was to our family. I know you will miss her terribly🙏❤️
