Margie M. Dunaway

Margie M. Dunaway, age 81, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home, Monday, June 5, 2023 surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on November 25, 1941 to her parents, Thomas and Clara Gibson, both have preceded her in death. She is also preceded by her brother, Billy Gibson; and sister, Ann Gibson. Margie was a long time member of Oak Mountain Baptist Church. She loved cooking and watching the Auburn Tigers play football. Margie enjoyed spending her time sitting on the porch and going to the lake but, above all she loved spending time with her family. Margie had a passion for taking care of others. She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Roy Edward Dunaway; son, Tommy Dunaway (Pam); daughter, Candy Dunaway; granddaughter, Cassi Thedford; daughter by heart, Kellie Martin; brothers, Robert Gibson (Peggy) and Cecil Gibson (Mary); and a host of nieces and nephews. Services will be held on Friday, June 9, 2023 at Oak Mountain Baptist Church. A visitation will be held at from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. followed by a service at 2 p.m.  Margie will be laid to rest there in the Oak Mountain Baptist Cemetery. Rev. James Blair will be officiating.  The Family would like to extend their thanks and gratitude to the Enhabit Hospice group for their compassion and services.
