Kathleen Wright Hutto

Kathleen Wright Hutto, age 64, passed away on April 17, 2024.  Kathy was born in Baltimore, MD to Dorothy Krueger Wright and Emmett Harris Wright. She was a 1978 graduate of W.A. Berry High school, and attended Auburn University. She married William Porter Hutto, Jr. on January 4, 1986 and together they started a wonderful journey in Homewood, Alabama raising their family and creating a loving and nurturing home.  Kathy was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Mark Harris Wright.  She is survived by her husband of 38 years, her daughter Courtney Hutto Rasberry (Tucker), her son Samuel Porter Hutto (Callie) and three grandchildren Porter Jennings Rasberry, Lee Hutto Rasberry and Emma Kathleen Hutto.  She was a loving sister to Richard Neil Wright (Gwen), David Glenn Wright (Lynn) and Karen Wright Huntsinger (Jim).  She leaves behind wonderful memories of great adventures with her many nieces and nephews and so many others that knew and loved her.  The family is grateful to Shawanna Nelson and all the other caregivers and friends who treated her like family.
Kathy worked in the dental industry but was happiest when she was creating something for her family or her community.  She was a long-time member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she volunteered within the youth program.  She enjoyed the beach, repurposing found items, volunteering in her community, and spending weekends at Bucks Chapel Hunting Club with friends and family.
A service of celebration will be held Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at Trinity United Methodist Church.  Visitation begins at 11:00 a.m. and the celebration will begin at 12:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the ALS association or Trinity United Methodist Church.

R.I.P Cathy (Red) Hutto you were one of the nicest individuals I have ever met. We will cherish the memories we had at Bucks Chapel over the years and look forward to seeing you on the other side. God Bless you Porter for being the best husband she could have ever asked for .

Our Forest Brook Community has benefitted so very much from all the attention and work that Kathy and Porter have unselfishly volunteered for so many years.
They were the backbone of our annual, covered-dish picnic. The Community could always rely on them to do all the hauling and setup of the tables, ice, beverages, and chicken.
Kathy and Porter made sure Christmas street bows and decorations always got hanged and taken down every year.
When they saw a need, they stepped in to fill it.
    THANK YOU for everything!
