Jackie Dunnaway
On Sunday, May 26, 2024, Jackie Dunnaway, loving wife, mother of two children, grandmother of eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren was called from this world to her heavenly home by the LORD at the age of 65.
Jackie was born on September 3, 1958, in Lake Charles, Louisiana to Timothy “Jack” and Dorothy “Dot” Golden. She loved Home Economics in High School, cooking, sewing, and later picking up knitting and crochet. She met her future husband on the school bus, she married Charles on May 29, 1976, they were blessed with two children, Christopher Keith and Michelle Leigh. Jackie was an amazing cook, homemaker, and mother. Everything centered around her children. Once the children were school age, Jackie decided to go to work at a local family-owned dry-cleaning business.
She eventually moved on to a payroll company which she truly enjoyed and when the payroll company sold, she went into business with her partner and adored friend, Sherry Webb, at Webb Payroll until she retired in 2023, to pursue more time with her family. Jackie’s greatest joy was being a mother and a Nana. Her life revolved around her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Jackie, selflessly with her late husband Charles, raised her children and grandchildren with passion, love and with great purpose. Every decision she made was with God and her family in mind. She was a devout Christian woman, and her life displayed it. She was a member of New Hope Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Jackie’s hard work, strength, unending bravery, and love is leaving a legacy that will not be forgotten.
Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, Timothy “Jack” and Dorothy “Dot” Golden: brother, Steven “Steve” Golden (Jimmy); husband of 48 years, Charles Dunnaway; daughter, Michelle Dunnaway and grandson, Cale Lewis. She is survived by her son, Chris Dunnaway; sister, Julie DePew (Melvin); grandchildren, Alyssa Morgan (Chase), Caleb Duncan (Emily), Alex Lewis, Tristan Lewis, Caid Lewis, Jaylen Lewis, Keylen; great grandchildren, Wynter and River Morgan and Easton Duncan.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at New Hope Cumberland Presbyterian Church. A visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m. followed by a service at 2:30 p.m. She will be laid to rest in Southern Heritage Cemetery. Rev. Donny Acton will be officiating.
I never met Jackie directly, as a client of Webb payroll, she was my support contact for many years. We often talked personally and she was always so kind and thoughtful. I know she loved her family. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family, she suffered so much loss in a short time. My heart broke when I heard of her passing. Rest in Peace Jackie, you will be missed.
Jackie was always part of our family. As a client of Webb Payroll, she always took care of my business. She even called 8 pm from home to support the business. In my 40 years in business, I have never met a person as kind, thoughtful, and hardworking. Even though I never met her, I always felt I knew her for years. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family. Jackie will be missed greatly. Rest in peace Jackie.
Jackie and I have been married to men who loved jokes, pranks, and were tenderhearted. She has been an understanding soul when things got just a little crazy at our house. We have laughed together many times and at things we had in common. Over the years, things changed in our lives. We had different lives. However, she was always that “sister” who enjoyed a good laugh and shared the heartaches as well. She and Charlie are together again and happy. That is a big consolation to our grief.
