Donald R. Garrett

Donald R. Garrett, age 79, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2026. He was born on December 30, 1946, to his parents, Vernon B. Garrett and Marjorie Garrett, both who preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Garrett, his brother, Douglas Garrett, and his son-in-law James Smith.

Donald is survived by his daughter, Teresa Smith; grandchildren, Kelsea Littleton (Blake) and Brooke Smith; great grandchildren, Emery, Ensleigh and Ellie Littleton.

Donald served his country in the United States Navy before beginning his career with Alabama Power. After 33 years, he retired from Alabama Power and enjoyed golfing with friends, Alabama football and Atlanta Braves baseball.

A visitation service will be held on Friday, September 4th from 12noon to 2:00 p.m. at Charter Funeral Home located at 2521 Highway 31 in Calera.

The family would like to thank Chris Davenport and all the staff at Cedar Ridge Veteran’s Facility as well as ExpectCare Hospice for the exceptional care they provided for Donald.
