Donna Lynn Lacey

Donna Lynn Lacey, of Thorsby, AL went home to be with her Lord on Friday, September 1, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones in her home. She was born May 12, 1959 in Gadsden, AL. A graduate of Shades Valley High School. Donna’s favorite hobbies included hunting, fishing, going to the lake or beach, and just being outside in general.

She was a former employee of the City of Hoover, where she retired after working 30 years. Most of those years she worked as the administrative assistant to the Hoover Fire Departments Fire Chief.

Donna is preceded in death by her parents, Henry Barr and June “Bubba” Dean. Her surviving relatives include her husband, John Lacey; daughter, Kristy Moore (Joseph); step-daughter, Andrea Lacey Troxell; step-son, Jeremy Lacey; grandchildren, Kristina, Kaylee, Kendall, and Kristian Moore, Ryann and Braden Troxell, Molly, John Daniel, and Sam Lacey; sister, Denise Chapin; brother, David Barr (Brandy); caregiver and friend, Loretta Millender.

Services for Donna will be held on Friday, September 8, 2023, at New Hope Cumberland Presbyterian Church (5521 Double Oak LN, Birmingham, AL 35242), viewing to start at 10:00 a.m. with her service to start at 11:00 a.m. Reverend Donny Acton will be officiating her services. Burial will be in the Bryan Memorial Presbyterian Cemetery (2600 Valleydale Rd, Birmingham, AL 35244). Charter Funeral Home in Calera, will be handling arrangements for her family.

    My mom and I are so sorry for the loss of such a kind, sweet woman, Donna. My mother was her neighbor for years and had a soft spot for Donna. She also appeared to feel the same by my mother.
