Charles Ray Parrish, 74, of Helena, AL passed away on February 12, 2017. Born January 12, 1943 in Walker County, Ray was a Christian man, loving father and husband. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. Ray enjoyed sharing his faith and the good news with strangers, friends and family. Although retired, Ray was still passionate about his work as a computer programmer and would talk Cobalt, operating systems and technological advances to anyone who would listen. He was an avid Crimson Tide fan who spent many a Saturday at Legion Field and Bryant Denny stadium. As an Air Force veteran, he was proud of his country and his service to it. Ray was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. He is preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Patricia Hinds Parrish of Helena, AL; parents, George and Ellen Parrish of Sumiton, Al; and daughter, Lisa A. Barnes of Birmingham, Al. He is survived by his wife of 5 years, Patricia Bearden Parrish; son Michael Parrish (Mary) of Townsend, TN; daughter, Wendy Brooks (Jimmy) of Pelham, AL; Paige Hofer (Scott) of Hoover, AL and step-daughter Sabra Hatcher of Alabaster, AL; sisters, Denise Henderson (Don), Diane Phillips (Jerry) and Rhonda Allen (Jerry) of Sumiton, AL; and last, but not least, his grandchildren: Steven Parrish, RJ Parrish, Amber Parrish, William Hofer, Greyson Hofer, Zoe Hatch, Sydney Hatch, Casey Brooks and Mindy Allen. Visitation will be on February 14, 2017 at Charter Funeral Home from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. The funeral service will be on February 15, 2017 at Community Baptist Church in Maylene at 11 a.m. Graveside service immediately following.
