June McClendon Moore

June McClendon Moore, age 77, of Marion, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 26 surrounded by family. She was born on July 2, 1948, in Gallant, AL to the late Julius and Trilbie McClendon. June was a longtime resident of Marion and a faithful member of Marion Methodist Church, where she worshiped for many years.
She was a woman of great charisma and conviction. She was strong-willed, determined, and steadfast in everything she did. She had a gift for remembering every birthday, holiday, and milestone, often showing her care through thoughtful gestures and perfectly chosen cards. Never one to sit quietly on the sidelines, she kept those around her engaged, informed, and often even on their toes. She loved to travel, and the beach was her favorite place. Above all, she was deeply proud of her boys, the life she shared with her husband of 54 years, and the family that grew from that love, including her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
June served the community through various places of employment around Marion from the age of 13. From Neely Theatre to Rexxall Drug to a local dentist, Dr. Sadler. She worked in Doctor Moore’s vet clinic while the family lived in Nebraska. She went on to work at Parisian in Montgomery in the 80s. After moving back to Nebraska, June began work as a special education paraprofessional and loved that job so very much. She had a special gift for those exceptional students, and it showed in the ways in which she loved and cared for them. She retired from that role while she and Jerry were living in Douglas, GA.
June is survived by her husband of 54 years, Doctor William Gerald “Jerry” Moore of Marion, AL, her son’s Billy Moore (Molly) of Flowery Branch & Mark Moore of Lincoln, NE; grandchildren, Caleb Moore (Caelyn), Sarah Beth Dannenmiller (Keller), Zach Farr (Juliea), Wyatt Moore, and DJ Moore; great grandchildren, Maverick & Warner; siblings Dale McClendon (Sandy), Timmie McClendon (Beth), Paula Boyle (Don).
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on November 1 at Marion Methodist Church with Len Hurston officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 prior to the service.
The family would like to thank Dr. Hannah Zahedi and the team at Vaughn Clinic, Julia Allen, Allyson and Patricia with Legacy Hospice, Kim Caldwell, Freida Tate, Susan Moore, Bernice Jackson, Joe and Katie (home health), and countless other friends and family for their service, kindness, and compassionate care.
