George Lee Clay

George Lee Clay, age 86, passed away at home surrounded by his loved ones on October 9, 2025. He loved cheering on the Atlanta Braves and Alabama Football. George enjoyed fishing, playing bridge with his family, coaching, announcing ball games, but most of all, George loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and telling others about his faith.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William Edward and Mary Ollie Clay.

George is survived by his loving wife, Carol Borland Clay; daughters, Kimberly Clay Maddox (Chuck), Mary Clay Mair (Thomas); son, Joseph William Clay (Lisa);  grandchildren, Anna-Marie Stewart (Caleb), Jesse Cox (Kelly), Matthew Mair, Alexander Mair, Hayley Clements (Hunter), Taylor Karimnia (Alex); great grandchildren, Harper Stewart, Lane Stewart, Liam Smith, Levi Smith and Bryson Cox.

A visitation will be held on Monday, October 20, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. followed by a service starting at 10:15 a.m. He will be laid to rest in Alabama National Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. Brother Dwayne Shurum will be officiating.
