John Carroll White

John Carroll White, a long time resident of Homewood and Hoover, Alabama, left us suddenly on May 18, 2024. He passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 70. John attended schools in Homewood and then graduated from Berry High School. He graduated from the University of Alabama and adamantly followed his beloved Crimson Tide sports teams from then on.
John was respected by his colleagues and patients as a technician in the field of respiratory therapy. Whenever visiting patients at the hospital or in their homes, John was a source of knowledge and comfort.
Gardening was one of John’s passions and he carried out the White family legacy of attention and care of the land. He referred to his many hours of meticulous care of his yard and gardens as his “therapy”. He received beautification awards numerous times from his neighborhood association.
John was also a guitar enthusiast. In addition to playing the guitar, he enjoyed refurbishing old guitars for friends who would call on his expertise. In addition to music, John’s other interests included meteorology, U.S. history, architecture and geography.
John is predeceased by his parents. J.C. and Jean White. He is survived by his sister Rebecca (Byron) Tidd, his nieces Andrea Tidd and Emily Tidd Kimberly, and their spouses. He loved spoiling his three great-nephews, Jack, Spencer, and Nate Kimberly. The family is grateful for the joy and love that John’s beloved Susan brought to John and the time they shared.
Services will be held on June 14 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1400 Oxmoor Road, Homewood, AL with visitation at 10:00 and the service at 11:00. At its conclusion, we will proceed outdoors to the church’s columbarium which will be John’s final resting place.
