Marisa Alvillar Roan

Marisa Alvillar Roan, 63, of Montevallo, Alabama, passed away on June 30, 2025. Marisa was born on April 2, 1962, in El Paso, Texas, the fourth of seven children of Ramon and Aurora Alvillar.
Marisa grew up in Fabens, Texas, and graduated from Fabens High School. After meeting her first husband, she moved to Alabama, where she raised her two beloved daughters, Jena and Jamie. Later in life, Marisa met and fell in love with Carl Roan. Together, they built a life they loved and shared many wonderful years of marriage on the Roan Family Farm until her passing.
Marisa dedicated her life to serving others, especially through her decades of work as the Hispanic Coordinator at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. Her devotion to her faith and her community was evident to everyone who knew her. Marisa never met a stranger; her warm, generous, and empathetic spirit drew people to her and left a lasting impact on countless lives.
Marisa is survived by her loving husband, Carl Roan; daughters, Jena (Chris) Evanko and Jamie Owens; stepdaughter, Kristi (Neal) Brooks; stepson, Andy (Nicole) Roan; her most cherished grandchildren, Wes and Sadie Evanko; step-grandchildren, Ashton, Gracie, John-Wendell, Adrian, Austin, Taylor, Dakota and 5 great-grandchildren; siblings, Noemi, Javier (Patsy), Raymond, Lorena, and Adrian (Nicole), and so many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ramon and Aurora Alvillar; brother, Alfonso Alvillar; niece, Laura Chavez; and four precious grandchildren.
A viewing and funeral Mass will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church to honor Marisa’s life, faith, and enduring legacy of service. The viewing will start at 10:00 a.m. followed by the service starting at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday July 8, 2025.
Sincere condolences and prayers for all who love and will miss Marissa. She indeed had a servant’s heart and a contagious smile. May God bless you all with peace and may Mother Mary wrap you in her Mantle.
I am so very sorry for loss. My memories growing up in Fabens with the family are such a blessing. We are better people for having known her and all those that she is with now.
