Billy Joe Sammons

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Billy Joe Sammons, 79, of Montevallo, Alabama, who passed peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Monday, February 10, 2025. Born on July 22, 1945, and a proud Veteran of the US Army, having served three tours in Vietnam.  Billy Joe was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Billy Joe is preceded by his wife, Susie Sammons; daughter, Amanda Sammons; parents, Mabel Mims (Edward “Ted”) and Ermon Sammons; and siblings, James Sammons and Linda Palmer.

He is survived by his children, Tiffany Sammons, Tonya Cummings (Kevin), and Zachary Sammons (Shelby); grandchildren, Austin (Hali), Justin, Skyler, Terri’Yona and Lilly; great grandchildren, Colton and Marlie; siblings, Brenda Mims Hughes and Bobby E. Sammons (Frances), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Billy Joe leaves behind a wide circle of friends, each of whom was touched by his generosity, sense of humor, and enduring spirit. He made an impact on everyone he met, and his presence will be profoundly missed.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at Charter Funeral Home. A Visitation will be held at 9:30 a.m. followed by a service at 10:30 a.m. Billy Joe will be laid to rest with honors in the Alabama National Cemetery at 11:45 a.m.   His nephew Darrell Sammons will be officiating.
