Donald Ray Bice

Donald was an evangelist andgospel singer. He always put God first in his life. He was a loving faithful husband, married to Janice Bice for 55 wonderful years. Donald was always smiling and could always make you laugh without trying.

He loved his daughters, Angie and Kandie, with his whole heart. Donald loved his grandsons, Blake, Kaden, Devon, and Jacob with a special kind of love. He was so proud of each one of them! His great granddaughter, Saylor, was the apple of his eye and he loved her so much! Donald’s relationships with his brothers and sister was so loving. He was an obedient son to his mother and father and loved them abundantly.

Donald was a member of Aldrich Assembly of God Church since 1982. He worked for Abex/ABC Rail for over 17 years and retired from the City of Calera in 2005. He was a faithful servant of God, always witnessing to everybody he came in contact with, even the Hospice caregivers.  Thank you to New Beacon Hospice for the excellent care you gave him these last few months. He became friends with each one of you.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ray Bice and Sara Bice Hayes; sister, Sandra Bice Thrash; and brothers, Randy Bice and Larry Bice. Donald is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Janice Bice; daughters, Angie Bice Lawley (Harold) and Kandie Bice Roop (Scotty); grandchildren, Blake (Kacy), Kaden, Devon (Heather), and Jacob; great granddaughter, Saylor Elizabeth Lawley; brothers, Terry Bice (Tammy), and Mark Bice (Shirley); and a host of nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

He was the best husband, father, pawpaw, and grandpa that ever lived. He is in the place he sang and preached about since 1982. Donald is singing in that Heavenly choir today!

Most people didn’t know that behind that wonderful smile lay a lot of health issues but we won’t name them all, some since birth.

His heart for family and friends was so big. He was genuine. What you saw is what you got, no fake in him. The verses The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord” and “Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of the Lord” fit him to a tee

Services will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026 at Aldrich Assembly of God. A visitation will be held at 1 p.m. followed by a service at 2 p.m. Donald will be laid to rest in Mars Hill Cemetery, Jemison Al.
