Ann Thomas

Ann Thomas was born on April 13, 1931. She died peacefully on April 2, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wiley and Margaret Thompson, her brothers Farley Thompson, and Jack Thompson, her daughter, Mary Drake and her son-in-law, George Drake. She is survived by her husband, Don. H Thomas; her son, Lynndon (Nona) Thomas, six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Ann graduated from Colbert County High School in 1949. She earned her B.S. from Bethel College in 1953 in Elementary Education. She met Don, her husband, at Bethel College. This year, they celebrated their 70th anniversary. She received an M.A. from the University of North Alabama in 1973 in special education. For many years, she taught education in various elementary schools in Tennessee and Alabama.

Ann was a faithful Cumberland Presbyterian pastor’s wife, serving alongside her husband in various ministries: West Union CP Church, Sheffield CPC, Homewood CPC, Fayetteville CPC, Boonshill CPC, and Hickory Grove CPC. She enjoyed working in the church, working with children and youth, putting together floral arrangements, making baked goods, and gardening. 

A memorial service will be held at the Rocky Ridge CP Church in Birmingham, Alabama, on Sunday, April 7th at 3 PM (CST). Visitation with the family will be from 2 to 3 PM at Rocky Ridge. The graveside service will be in North Alabama at the Mt. Pleasant CP Church cemetery, located next to the church, at 3 PM on Monday, April 8th. The family requests that memorial gifts be given to the Stott-Wallace Missionary Offering, a missionary support program of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church (https://cpcmc.org/mmt/sw/).
