ALFRED EUGENE HERRON

ALFRED EUGENE HERRON, age 78 of Calera, Alabama, passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2017.  He was born January 12, 1939, son to Willard and Helen Herron of Pea Ridge, Alabama.  He graduated in 1957 from Montevallo High School.  He retired after working over 30 years at ABC Rail Corporation in Calera.  Those who knew him well, affectionately referred to him as “Big AL” or “Big Honey,” with a reputation of always willing to help anyone, with anything, anytime.  Alfred was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Helen Herron, and two brothers Lacey and Bill Herron.  He is also survived by two brothers, Terry and Jimmy, plus three Sister-in-laws.  He was married 57 years to his loving wife, Barbara Jean Herron of Calera.  He had four children, three sons and one daughter; Philip Herron and wife, Darla; Danny Joe Herron and wife Teresia; Dawn Smith and husband, Vance; and Michael Herron and wife Tra.  Alfred was the proud Paw-Paw to eleven grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren.  He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other family and close friends whom he dearly loved.
