Douglas McArthur Tidwell

Douglas McArthur Tidwell, age 84, of Perry County, passed from this walk of life on
Tuesday, May 5, 2026. He was born on February 24th, 1942, to his loving parents, Tom
and Ruby Tidwell. Douglas was a Farmer by trade and heart for many years taking on
the family tradition. He loved the outdoors and even in his retirement could not give up
his desire to plant and work a garden. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and
close friends. Douglas will be forever remembered for his gentle, humble, quiet, and
caring nature but most of all for bringing family together.
Douglas is preceded in death by his parents, Tom Tidwell and Ruby Tidwell, sisters,
Katherine (Joe) Owens and Tommie (Raul) Hernandez and brothers-in-law, Irby Pope
and Tony Hobson. He is survived by his loving wife, Charlotte Ann Tidwell; daughter,
Lisa Tidwell (Scott Murray); sons, Arthur Tidwell and Gary Tidwell (Melissa); grandsons,
Alex Tidwell (Merissa) and Wes Murray; granddaughters, Avery Murray Davis (Joel) and
Melissa Richardson (Chase); sisters-in-law, Nina Pope and Flo Hobson; and numerous
great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Tuesday, May 12th, 2026, at Bethlehem Methodist Church in
Heiberger, AL. A visitation will be held at 10 a.m. followed by a service at 11 a.m.
Douglas will be laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery. Rev. Tim Craddick will be
officiating. Arthur Tidwell, Gary Tidwell, Scott Murray, Alex Tidwell, Eric Salares, and
Josh Phillips will be serving as pallbearers. Services entrusted to Charter Funeral Home
& Crematory.
Mack worked our Caddell and Perdue family property for many decades. I had become to think of him as a member of our family. Always admired his calm demeanor and sense of humor. Our family property in
the Brent area won’t seem the same without him! Never to be forgotten!
