Larry Wayne Bates

Larry Wayne Bates, age 63 of Irondale, AL  passed away Monday, July 17, 2017.  Wayne  proudly served his country in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War.  He was a Military Photographer in Vietnam and received many badges for his service including the Vietnam Service Medal and Marksman Qualification Badge and others.  He was predeceased by parents, Norman H. Bates and Opal A. Bates; brother, Jimmy Michael Bates.  His survivors include his sister, Kathy Kilpatrick; daughter, Opal Danyale Bates Nichols; granddaughters, Lauren Grace Nichols and Lindsey Paige Nichols.  A Committal Service with Honors will be 11 am, Monday, July 24, 2017 at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, AL.
