William “Woodfin” Clements

William “Woodfin” Clements moved from this life into the presence of Christ, his Savior on April 1st at his residence surrounded by his family. Woodfin was a devoted servant of the Church and loved the Lord with all his heart. He also knew the value of hard work, and instilled it in his family. He started a logging business with his son, Kenny, and worked alongside many sons and grandsons for much of his life. He loved to give out skidder driving lessons, taking the kids squirrel hunting and especially enjoyed coon hunting with his friend Gerald Johnson (as long as it was with a bluetick hound). He could whistle the most peaceful tune you’ve ever heard, and loved to sit on the porch and whittle on a good piece of cedar. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by many friends and family.

Mr. Woodfin is preceded in death by his son, William Bradley Clements. His surviving relatives include his loving wife, Geneva Clements; sons, Frankie Clements (Mary), Kenny Clements, and Danny Clements; daughter, Sandra Kay Calhoun (Steve); sisters, Agnes Hughes, Margaret Fisher, and Jeanette Averette; eight grandchildren, Stephen Clements (April), Shawn Calhoun (Anna), Brandon Clements (Hayden), Tyler Clements (Valerie), Hunter Clements (Hayley), Cory Clements, Samantha Calhoun, and Erica Dozier (Eddie); great-grandchildren, Hali Belcher, TB Clements, and Scotty Calhoun; numerous other great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Pallbearers will be his grandsons; and honorary pallbearers, Gerald Johnson, TB Clements, Scotty Calhoun, James Stewart, Buddy George, William Hill, and Shane Tucker, and Eddie Averette.

His celebration of life gathering will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at Springhill Holiness Church from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at 11 a.m. at the church, with viewing one hour prior to his services. Burial will follow in adjoining cemetery with Bro. Ray Granthum and Bro. Brandon Averette officiating. Charter Funeral Home in Calera handling his arrangements.
