William “Arnold” Jones
William “Arnold” Jones, age 90, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his own home in Helena, Alabama on Saturday, December 20, 2025. He enjoyed gardening, reading, and when he was younger, hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed sharing stories about his service in the Unites States Army.
He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, William Jones and Clarine Harrison Jones and brothers, Josh Benjamin Jones and Phillips Harrison Jones.
Arnold is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Mary Louise Cates Jones; children Arlene Jones Ecker (Glenn), William Arnold Jones Jr. (Laura); grandchildren, James Adam Kirby (Shannon), Joshua Aaron Kirby (Ashley), William Arnold Jones, III (Madelyn), Samuel Harrison Jones; sisters Dixie Jones Snowden, Alice Jones Hall, Rita Jones Seales (Mike) and sister-in-law, Becky Jones.
A visitation will be held at Helena United Methodist Church on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a short service at 11:00 a.m. Arnold will be laid to rest in the Alabama National Cemetery on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, with a committal time at 1:15 p.m.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Jessie Broadnax Bradley, special caregiver. Also to Lorie Sims with SouthernCare New Beacon Clanton, along with the entire hospice team whose compassion, guidance, and care provided comfort and dignity during Arnold’s final days.
His legacy lives on in the family he cherished, the stories he shared, and the humble example he set for all who knew him.
MR Jones was the best honorable man anyone could ever know. He would give you his skirt off his back if you needed it. He was the best father inlaw a man could ever have. Will miss him.
Thanks Kirby. He thought the world of you and enjoyed all of your paintings. You are always welcome to come and visit. You brought us two grandsons and we love you dearly.
