Rita “Lyn” Evelyn Swift Richards

Rita “Lyn” Evelyn Swift Richards passed away surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, August 24, 2023. Lyn was born on Monday, May 22, 1961 in Birmingham, Alabama to her parents, Marilyn DeRussy Swift and James Swift. She was preceded in death by her father, James Swift. Lyn is survived by her husband, Michael Richards; daughter, Siera Mills (Jasper White); her twin brother, Rene’ Swift; sister, Carol Crocker (Scott Crocker) and brother, Joey Swift. Lyn was always a bright and caring soul and wouldn’t condone sadness, even in her last days. She made sure there were plenty of smiles to go around. When we were the ones who were tasked with lifting her spirits, she was the one who made sure there was happiness and laughter in the room. It’s hard to remember a time when she wasn’t trying to make someone else smile. Lyn loved photography, the great outdoors, and her family. Her love for crafts is something that she shared with just about everyone she met as well. She will be so dearly missed.

A celebration of Lyn’s life will be Saturday, September 2, form 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Charter Funeral Home.
