Lauren P. Emerine

Lauren Paul Emerine aged 88, (05-23-1934 – 03-12-2023) went on to his eternal home.

Mr. Emerine married Virginia Josephine Larizzo, October 14, 1954 and was married 65 years until her death. The couple had five children. Mr. Emerine is survived by 4 of his 5 children. Tina M. Wilhems (Paul), Christopher G. Emerine, Erica M. McKinney (Frank – deceased) and Jaime P. Emerine). He is pre- deceased by his son Lauren P. Emerine II, his mother, Louella Dapp Emerine and his father Paul E. Emerine and his brother Dennis D. Emerine.

He is also survived by 5 grandsons, Paul J. Wilhems (Harmony), Andrew L. Wilhems (Jenna), Chandler L. Emerine (Lauren), Pierce R. Emerine and Carson W. McKinney and 5 great grandchildren, Annika R. Wilhems, Maggie Josephine Wilhems, Dalton F. Wilhems, Bodhi C. Wilhems, and Weston B Wilhems; and brother, Larry E Emerine (Jeremy).

Mr. Emerine was very proud of his time in the United States Navy. His rank at discharge was Lieutenant. He was active duty during the Korean War and the Vietnam War and served as a medical corpsman and as a naval intelligence officer during his tenure in the Navy. He graduated from Bowling Green State University and retired from Union Carbide Corporation as well as Parisian Department Store. Mr. Emerine enjoyed reading and working on cars and building furniture and boating. There was little he set his mind to that he couldn’t accomplish. From building a 19 foot ocean going cabin cruiser (boat) in his back yard to restoring a 1950’s era MGB to its original condition. He built furniture and remodeled many homes. He loved to travel once he entered the Navy and travelled domestically and abroad until he was into his 80’s. He will be buried next to his wife at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, Alabama.

Visitation will be held Monday, March 20, 2023 in the Charter Funeral Home Chapel starting at 11:30 a.m. Lauren will be laid to rest alongside his wife in the Alabama National Cemetery, with a committal service at 1:15 p.m.

    Lauren Emerine was a man of many talents. If he was your friend, you could never find a better one. If not, well you’ll never know what you missed. “Fair winds and following seas” Lauren until we meet again. I valued your and Virginia’s friendship.
