John William Zirkelbach

John William Zirkelbach, age 82, passed away on Monday, July 7, 2025 in Birmingham, Al. He was born on September 21, 1942 to his parents John Carl and Eda Walldorf Zirkelbach, both have preceded him in death. John is also preceded by his brother, Frederick Walldorf Zirkelbach.
Johnny graduated from Shades Valley High School, received his Business Degree from Auburn University, and his Law Degree from Birmingham School of Law. He also served in the Alabama Air National Guard for many years. He worked at Alabama Gas Co., Saunders Leasing Company, and then founded NTTS and Travel Professionals International. John enjoyed watching all Auburn sports, fishing, boating, playing cards, reading, and anything related to his grandchildren. He touched the lives of many with his sense of humor and quick smile. He was a beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather (Pappy), brother, uncle and friend.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Bishop Zirkelbach; daughter, Lisa Zirkelbach McCormick (Todd); grandchildren, Joseph P. McCormick II (Grace) and Madeline E. McCormick; sister, Mary Zirkelbach Gibbs (Bobby); and many loving nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, July 13, 2025 at Asbury United Methodist Church (6690 Cahaba Valley Rd Birmingham, Al 35242). A visitation will be held at 2 p.m. followed by a service at 3 p.m. Reverend Robert Mercer will be officiating. In lieu of flowers please donate to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
