Jane T. Cato

Mrs. Jane Templeton Cato, age 93, of Calera Alabama, passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2025.  A devoted wife and mother, she was beloved by all who knew her.

She was born and reared in Little Rock, Arkansas, the daughter of Harry and Florence Templeton.   She was preceded in death by her husband, Carrol Fay Cato, and parents, Harry and Florence Templeton, all of Arkansas. Jane attended Ouachita Baptist and was retired from the U.S. Civil Service.  Upon retirement, Jane and her family moved to their home in Calera, Alabama.

Jane lived a full life and enjoyed many hobbies such as archeology, genealogy and photography.  She was a lover of all animals and was never, ever without a pet. Or two.  Or three.  There was never such a thing as a stray. Being from Arkansas, Jane was a faithful Arkansas Razorback fan. Mrs. Cato was a devout Christian and loved her Sunday school and Church, Hope Mountain, in Calera, Alabama.

Jane is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Tracy Cato, a grandson and spouse, Gray and Valerie Cato, a granddaughter, Cassidy Cato and a great granddaughter, Penelope Cato.  

Family, friends and others who knew Jane are invited to celebrate her life on Wednesday, the 17th of December 2025 at Charter Funeral Home in Calera. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. with Memorial to follow. Pastor Deric Thomas of Hope Mountain Church will be officiating.
