Bert Hampton “Hamp” Hyder III

Bert Hampton “Hamp” Hyder, 74, passed away on December 1, 2025, at Shelby Baptist Hospital. He was born on February 22, 1951, in Aberdeen, Mississippi, to the late Bert and Mildred Hyder. Hamp grew up in Aberdeen, where he formed the roots of the kindness and warmth he carried throughout his life.
Hamp met the love of his life, Debra Rollins Hyder, and together they built a beautiful life filled with love, devotion, and joy. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in March.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Hamp is survived by his loving wife, Debra Hyder of Pelham, Alabama; his daughters Amy Hyder Salter (Damon) of Cullman, Alabama, and Brandi Hyder Cummins (Jamie) of Helena, Alabama; six grandchildren, Micayla Cruce (Brett), Keaton Saunders, Nic Cummins, Brady Cummins, Mica Salter, and Olivia Salter; and one precious great-granddaughter, Penelope Saunders . He is also survived by his sister, along with many brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews who cherished him deeply.
Hamp had a kind and generous heart, always willing to lend a hand without hesitation. He never met a stranger, and his joy for life was felt by all who had the blessing of knowing him. His family finds comfort in knowing he is rejoicing in Heaven with Jesus.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Hamp’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
