James William Newsom, Jr.

James William Newsom, Jr. age 80 of Calera, AL passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2017.  Bill proudly served in the U. S Army, 317th CMLCO, Fort McClellan, AL.   He was predeceased by his parents, James and Louise Newsom and brother, Richard Newsom.  His survivors include his wife of 26 years, Lola M. Newsom; daughters, Lynn Williams (Terry) and Laura Dunlap; siblings, Kenneth Newsom (Elizabeth), Ronald Newsom  (Rose), Theodore Newsom (Bobbie), Gary Newsom (Faye), Mary Ann Miller, Robert Newsom (Trisha) and Paul Newsom  (Robin); a host of grandchildren; 1 great grandchild. He was a friend of Bill W. for 26 years. The family will receive friends, 1-1:30 pm, Friday, January 27, 2017 with a Memorial Service to follow at 1:30 pm both at Charter Funeral Home.  A Committal Service will be held at the Alabama National Cemetery, Montevallo, AL at 2:45 pm.  Ministers Ben Daily and Ben Hayes will officiate the services.
