He is survived by his wife Nancy Daugherty; son, John Humble (Christina); daughters, Kristy Myers (Chad) and Ashley Gilmore (Anthony); grandchildren, Joseph Rozas, Kristopher Humble, Hayley Myers Carroll (Will), Hunter Myers (Bella), Victoria Alder, Hazen Gilmore, Claire Gilmore; mother-in-law, Mary Bridgmon; brother-in-law Harry Adams.
Guy attended West Monroe Louisiana Highschool and later attended Northeast Louisiana University. He was a part of the United States Army from 1978-1980 as Seargent E5 and the Army reserves from 1980-1983. He served as a rifle sharpshooter and grenade expert. Guy retired from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama as a Sr. database administrator. He enjoyed Alabama football, Braves baseball, and cruising.
Guy Darren Daugherty was a man of many nicknames, but most would know him as Darren. He never met a stranger and would always make you feel at home. He strived for laughter and good times, with an occasional memory or story to tell. He was never known to be shy, and most would call him a friend after only knowing him for mere minutes. He was deeply loved by his family and friends. He was a loving son, husband, father, and grandfather. He always put his family first and would protect and support them at all costs. He was known as someone you could count on to help them in any way he could and never questioned it or asked for anything in return. He was a generous man, not only in materialistic ways, but in quality time and emotional support. To know him was to love him; there was no other way. He will be genuinely missed by all that has crossed his path; most of all his family and closest friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents William Houston Daugherty and Bonnie Jean Daugherty and brother-in-law, William Wade Young.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
I know he will be missed by all who knew him. He and I would talk at Blue Cross for a lot longer than we should and I would get him to try the latest snack I found at Costco. So sorry for your loss. Praying for all his family and friends.
Thank you for sharing that.
Nancy
