Gerald William (Bill) Horne, passed away on October 1, 2018 at Wetumpka Nursing Home, Wetumpka, Al.
He was born on June 2, 1936, at home in Chandler Springs, Alabama, son of now deceased parents
Bess Ware Coker and Curtis Havaughn Horne.
Bill served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Alabama National Guard, Unit 8 Battery, 464 AA Battalion, Talladega, Alabama
He attended Jacksonville State University and Auburn University-Montgomery and was an avid follower of the Auburn Tigers.
He could be found decked out in his Auburn gear at the nursing home on game day.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sarah Ann (Sally) Horne; son, Gerald Steven (Steve) Horne, daughter-in-law, Kim Perry Horne,
and grandson Mason McEvoy, Pelham, Alabama; Sister, Judy Horne Holmes, Winter Haven, Florida, nephew, Mike Holmes, Winter Haven, Florida
and niece Jan Holmes Tamucci, Mike Tamucci, three great nephews, Michael, Ryan and Griff and one niece, Hannah, Marietta, Ga.
Alice Davis Bachman, sister-in-law, Greensboro, North Carolina; Kim Bachman Derrick, niece; Greensboro, N.C. and one great nephew, John
Bachman Derrick and one great niece, Mary Harmon Derrick, Greensboro, N.C. and a loving life-long friend, Royce Faulkner, Talladega, Al.
Visitation will be at home Monday, October 8th, 3 o’clock until 5 o’clock.
Sally, I want you to know that You and Bill will be truly missed. I went to breakfast this morning wanting to see his smiling face or to just get a sweet kiss from my Bill.
