Elsie Lee Vernon

Elsie Lee Vernon, born on July 31, 1935, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, April 13, 2025, surrounded by family. 

Elsie is proceeded in death by her parents, her loving husband of 65 years, Thomas Vernon, two sons, and 10 siblings. 

Elsie is survived by her two daughters, Mary Johnson (David), Karen Alley (Roland), seven grandchildren, Amanda Cohen (Matt), Skylar Harris, John Thomas Johnson (Kara), Stormy Lee (Will), Misty Wise (Will), Crystal Bessiere (Glenn), and Rachel Vesely (Brian), ten great grandchildren, Samuel Cohen, Carleen Harris, Chris (Savannah), Tyler (Abbi), John, Kayleigh, Kinley, and Emma Bessiere, Brady Wilson, and Ada Vesely, three great great grandchildren, Whitley, Veda, and Irelyn and a host of nieces and nephews. 

Elsie worked in the cotton mill in Siluria for many years at a young age and that’s where she met her lifelong partner, and after having their first son, she became a devoted housewife and caretaker of many kids that she loved like her own. Elsie was a faithful Christian woman, she loved the Lord, her church, and her family. 

Everyone who knew her, loved her and her infectious laugh. 

Services for Elsie will be Wednesday, April 16, 2025, with visitation 12:30PM-2:00PM and a service to follow at 2:00PM with burial to follow at Bailey’s Chapel Cemetery.
