Constance “Connie” Sorrell Hendon

Constance “Connie” Sorrell Hendon passed away at the age 72 in the comfort of her own home on, Monday, March 23, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on October 16, 1953 to her parents, Robert Franklin Sorrell and Claudia Bishop Sorrell, both have preceded her in passing. Connie is also preceded by her loving husband, Eddie Hendon, and brother Charles L. Sorrell.

Connie graduated with her master’s degree in education from the University of Montevallo and served the community and taught at the Middle School for over 20 years. Faculty, staff, and students loved her just as much as she cherished them. She enjoyed taking long trips to the beach with her friends. Connie was a die-hard Alabama Football fan and never missed a game. Above all she loved spending time with her family. Connie was a loving daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother.

She is survived by her son, Bobby Hendon (Stacy); daughter, Lauren Whitehead (Chris); grandchildren, Rae Hendon (Hunter Watts), Wesley Hendon, Scarlett Whitehead, and Adilyn Whitehead and Mia Whitehead; great grandson, Oliver Watts; and siblings, Eddie Sorrell (Cathy) and Robin Oswalt (Lee).

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026 at Charter Funeral Home with a gathering will be held from 6pm-8pm.
