Chester Duane Gravelle

July 23, 1957 – February 28, 2023

Father, Husband, Brother, Son, and Friend

Chet had many titles and wore many different hats. The two he wore the most were worker and friend. While he worked the most in lime and knew it very well, he also tried his hand at most anything that needed to be done. He’d be the first on the job and the last to leave. Anybody that worked with him would say, “Man, he works.” The friend’s hat, I don’t think he ever took this hat off! I believe he’d just wear the other over the top of it. No matter where he was, or what he was doing, he never forgot to be the best friend anyone could know. He was always the first to offer to pay for the meal. If he bought something, he’d offer to pay for one for you too. I believe the only bad hang up he had, he was an Auburn fan. He loved the orange and blue. He didn’t have to say much, because his smile would always tell on him. Whether they won or lost, he was still your friend. He had his trials and battles, yet in the end he found the right road and walked in it, inviting others to walk along with him. Like his grandfather before him, they both walked the same road that led from Calvary to Zion’s hill.

Chester’s visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, in the evening at 6:30 p.m., follow by his Celebration of Life service at 7:00 p.m. at the Upper Room Church in Montevallo, Alabama.

Yes and what a very good friend he was. No matter what was going on he always seemed to say just the right thing to make you feel better. I didn’t know him for a long time yet my life is much better off for having known him. And I will truly miss him a lot.
