Cherry Cash Pickett

Cherry Cash Pickett passed away peacefully in her sleep in the comfort of her home in Pea Ridge, Alabama, Saturday, April 12, 2025. Cherry had a huge heart for children. She taught at Shelby Academy and in Sunday School. She also led at Cub and Boys Scouts. She leaves behind a strong legacy of kindness and Christian love.
Cherry attended Alabama College for Women and later earned her bachelor’s in history from the University of Montevallo. She served faithfully in the ministry with her husband, the Reverand Albert Lee Pickett Sr., for 30-plus years. Cherry was an active member of Montevallo #434 Order of the Eastern Star. She proudly represented the State of Alabama as Worthy Grand Matron (2010-2011). Cherry was an avid supporter of Breast Cancer Research.
Cherry was preceded in death by her parents, Ira Gardner Cash and Lessie Freeman Cash; her brother, Doug Cash, and her husband of 60 years, the Reverand Albert Lee Pickett Sr.
She is survived by her daughters, Regina Pickett Garson and Karen Pickett El-Kady; her son, Albert Lee Pickett Jr.; his wife and daughter-in-love, Angie; grandchildren, Matthew (Dawn), Jonathan, Heather (Robert), Ashley, Emily, Aleah, and Levi; great grandchildren, Jayden, Cameron, and William; brother, Mark Cash; sisters Fay Howell, Jane Cooper (Wolfgang); sister-in-law, Marilyn Cash; and a host of nieces and nephews who she loved very much.
A visitation for Cherry will be held on April 17, 2025, at the Charter Funeral Home in Calera, Alabama, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. It will be followed by a service that starts at 2:00 p.m. She will be laid to rest in Macedonia Cemetery in Pea Ridge, Alabama.
Mrs Cherry was my Sunday school teacher at Bethel free Will Baptist Church! We became best friends! She had a love and caring heart!
