Allen Drew Hunter
Allen “Drew” Hunter passed peacefully on December 3rd, 2024. Drew was a wonderful, fun, and kind man who never met a stranger and was able to entertain anyone through his storytelling and flair for the dramatic. He opened his home and life to anyone who needed help, especially children who needed someone to care, listen, and love them. He truly has a servant’s heart and he made it his goal that no one ever felt like they did not have a place to be safe and call home. Anyone that knew Drew would know his passion was always to help people whenever he saw a need, and his light will be missed by all the people he connected with.
Drew was a devoted and loving father, husband, brother, and son to his family. He is preceded by his father, O.L. “Jack” Griffin and brother Joel Griggs Hunter II. Survived by his wife of 24 years, Brenda Habshey Hunter; mother, Joy Reavis Griffin; sons, Clint (Samantha), Benjamin (Laura), Timothy (Stephanie), and Nicholas; grandchildren, Harrison, Nathan, Evan, Grayson, Katelyn, and Theodore; sister, Diana Decker (Gary), Robert W. Griffin (Patience), and John M. Griffin (Jewel). He also touched the lives of many, many more people he would consider his “extra-bonus” children whose names would take too long to list fully.
Services will be held Tuesday, December 10th, 2024, at Christian Life Church in Hoover. The family will be receiving guests from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. with a service and remembrance to begin at 1 p.m. Drew was an avid gardener, so please have any flowers in pots so they can grow strong like he always loved.
Cousin Drew will definitely be missed, but I am lucky to have such fond memories of him. Sending lots of love and prayers to you all.
